As part of a Creative Partnerships Enquiry project, Nunthorpe Primary School  have worked with creative practitioners to explore how their outdoor space can be used to enhance teaching and learning.

The school benefits from a large playing field & playground, keeping chickens,
a wild area, and have plans to construct an outdoor classroom.

The aim of this project was to explore different activities, techniques and
processes that can support teaching and learning using the outdoor space. They
also looked towards the activity continuing beyond the life of the project, and inspire approaches to teaching and learning.

During the project the school worked with artists Nicola Parkin and Vicky
Holbrough.  The artists collaborated, offering a range of specialist sessions inspired by natural & found materials, print and mixed media work, including illustration and sculpture. Photographer, Kev Howard also worked with the children using digital imagery and photo-montage.

This blog is a showcase of how the artists engaged pupils in the creative
exploration of their outdoor spaces and the resulting artwork.
